So I have had probably the worst three weeks and a few days that I have ever had. Now it isn't what you think. Kaidy has been a gem. She even started sleeping through the night. No, I have had not one, not two, but three bouts of mastitis within the last 3 and a half weeks. It is the worst illness I have ever had!!!!!!!
My first case was in Blackfoot. It is amazing how fast it hits. I felt normal on Saturday night then Sunday morning I'm freezing to death. By noon I feel like I'm going to die. We went into a clinic in town and got the drugs a few days later I'm able to function. Hurray I'm done, or not.
Then a few weeks ago I start feeling those beginning symptoms. I hurried and called the Doctor got the drugs. So this time I should do better since I got a jump on it, right. No I threw up all day, every hour (not an exaggeration) until I could get some anti nausea medication. Then I was so nauseated but unable to throw up that I didn't eat anything and barely drank anything for three days. Not my kind of fun. I couldn't even take care or think about Kaidy. Thank heavens for Mack and for all of you that helped out.
And just a few days ago, before I was even finished with the antibiotics from the second bout I got it again. This time I went into a Ready Care at midnight, had a temp of 103.5, got an IV, Drugs, and strong antibiotics. I'm still on the mend and have had another shot of the big dog antibiotic along with a few other tests to see if they need to do anything else.
Wow who knew that being a lactating mother could be so hard. It defiantly isn't all that it is cracked up to be. It defiantly isn't for me and I'm throwing in the towel.
So to all of those women out there that do breastfeed, GOOD JOB you are AMAZING, and to all of those women out there that aren't able to breastfeed. It is OK, there is no shame in keeping you and your baby healthy by other means.

Sadie,
I'm so sorry for what you've had to go through. It's true that breastfeeding is not easy (personal experience) and I'm really proud of you for remembering what's most important--loving and taking care of your baby (and yourself). I hope you feel better soon. Congratulations again on your beautiful little baby!
Love,
Lesley
OUCH! You gave it your best shot! Life should be better now! I just saw pics of you camping with your Mom. The pics of Kaidy's bath were so cute! You'll have to get them from your mom!
Hey, you can't say you didn't try but it sounds like you need to just get better and let it be. :) Hope you are feeling better and stay better this time!
o you poor thing hope all keeps on the up side
Wow, you really have survived. Hope things get better and stay that way.
I understand Sadie! Been there done that. Don't be afraid to try it out for another kid though. It all just depends on the children and the situation. I am glad that you are able to move on!
oh that's such a bummer Sadie! I hope by now you are feeling fine. And you go woman, amen for not feeling bad about BF, I always hate it when people make you feel guilty. We all have our reasons when we go to formula (which Ethan did just fine on that when we switched over). Hope mommyhood is going better for you. She's a cutie! I especially enjoy all the smiley pictures
